We did our research and found that the best statement for the core tenants of Judaism we could find was stated as follows:
13 Principles of Faith
The closest that anyone has ever come to creating a widely-accepted list of Jewish beliefs is Rambam‘s thirteen principles of faith. These principles, which Rambam thought were the minimum requirements of Jewish belief, are:
- G-d exists
- G-d is one and unique
- G-d is incorporeal
- G-d is eternal
- Prayer is to be directed to G-d alone and to no other
- The words of the prophets are true
- Moses‘ prophecies are true, and Moses was the greatest of the prophets
- The Written Torah (first 5 books of the Bible) and Oral Torah (teachings now contained in the Talmud and other writings) were given to Moses
- There will be no other Torah
- G-d knows the thoughts and deeds of men
- G-d will reward the good and punish the wicked
- The Messiah will come
- The dead will be resurrected

If we examine this it is not difficult to notice that these beliefs are identical to what Muslims believe with exception to point 7. The Qur’an states in this regard the following:
Say, “We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him.”
Qur’an, 3:84
However, there many Muslims who believe in point 7 if you were to swop out the name of Moses (peace be on him) with that of the name of Muhammad (peace be on him). Then it would appear that Muslims and Jews would agree on point 7. Also, if you swop out the word ‘Torah’ for ‘Quran’ and the word ‘Talmud’ for ‘Hadith’, then the list would be identical for Muslims. In other words point 8 would read as follows:
The Quran and the oral teachings now contained in the Hadith were given to the Prophet Muhammd (p).
In this way mainstream Muslims are not very different to Jews, and Jews who are religious are not that different to Muslims in core beliefs. It is for this reason we believe that there is a possibility that Muslims and Jews can cooperate on a lot more than many would care to admit. Let us remember that Allah says in the Qur’an:
The food of the people of the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them, and good women from among believers, and good women from among those who were given the Book before you, provided you give them their dowers, binding yourself in marriage, neither going for lust, nor having paramours.
Quran, 5:5
